Beyond it's role as a December Birthstone, Turquoise is viewed by many Southwestern tribes (including the Navajo, Apache, Zuni, and Hopi) as a fallen piece of the sky or a gift from the gods that bridged earth and heaven. Turquoise is thought to enchance inner calm and self realization.
