Handmade Necklace with prong set raw amethyst

A 1-1/4" x 3/4" slab of raw amethyst is set onto a custom beaded silver wire prong setting. The sterling silver bead chain is 16" plus a 1-1/2" extender for the perfect fit.

The name “amethyst” derives from the Greek amethystos, which means “a remedy against drunkenness,” a benefit long ascribed to the purple birthstone. Because of its wine-like color, early Greek mythology associated the gem with Bacchus, the god of wine. This February birthstone was also believed to keep the wearer clear headed and quick witted in battle and business affairs.
