Handmade Necklace with prong set trapiche amethyst, wide curb chain

A 1" x 1-1/8" slice of trapiche amethyst is set onto a custom textured silver wire prong setting and hung from a sterling silver 5mm flat curb chain. The necklace is 16" with a 1-1/2" extender for the perfect fit.

A "trapiche amethyst slice" refers to a slice of amethyst crystal that exhibits a unique pattern of inclusions, resembling the spokes of a traditional sugar cane mill wheel, called a "trapiche," which is where the name originates; this pattern creates a visually striking "star-like" or "wheel-like" appearance within the stone, making it a sought-after variety of amethyst due to its distinctive aesthetic and rarity

The name “amethyst” derives from the Greek amethystos, which means “a remedy against drunkenness,” a benefit long ascribed to the purple birthstone. Because of its wine-like color, early Greek mythology associated the gem with Bacchus, the god of wine. This February birthstone was also believed to keep the wearer clear headed and quick witted in battle and business affairs.
