Created by Indianapolis artist Scott Johnson as an action for racial justice. Scott has generously donated our first 10 sets of these postcards to our Silver Linings Fund.
Silver Linings is a charitable fund created by Silver in the City. Proceeds of the fund will be used to support black-led efforts at addressing racial disparity in Central Indiana. Our first initiative was to raise $5,000 to provide a covid-relief grant to a Black-owned business in Central Indiana.
Each set of 10 includes one of each 5x7 postcard:
Madame Walker - "I got my start by giving myself a start"
Major Taylor - "Modesty should be typical of the success of a champion"
Frederick Douglass - "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong."
Barack Obama - "We remain more than a collection of red and blue states. We are and forever will be the United States of America."
Martin Luther King Jr. - "There comes a time when silence is betrayal."
Colin Kaepernick - "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything."
Langston Hughes - "I swear to the Lord, I still can't see, why Democracy means, everybody but me."
Sarah Vaughan - "I am not a special person. I am a regular person who does special things."
John Lewis - "Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America."
Ruth Bader Ginsburg - "I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks."
